HI!

I am not sure, but I feel that if you edit your lilo.conf and add the
following entries in it, you will be able to mount raid on /

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-3
        label=linux-raid
        root=/dev/md1

Then, on the lilo prompt, type "linux-raid". If all goes well, it will mount
/dev/md1 on /. If not, you may always reboot the system with the default
"lin16" at lilo.
