I have a working RAID setup un 2.2.16, on a BP6 but using the ATA33
controller. I decided to try the HPT366.

My current kernel is the latest from RedHat (2.2.16-3).

I built a new one from the following applied in order:
- linux-2.2.16
- ide-2.2.16-20000630
(http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/)
- raid-2.2.16-A0 (http://people.redhat.com/mingo/raid-patches/)
- 2.2.16combo
In here md.c failed - but it was drastically changed by the
raid patch so I assumed no worries - it was a one liner chunk
        that failed.

When the system starts the raid services (early in the sysinit sequence)
the machine locks up hard.

The two disks are masters on ide2 and ide3. The system is installed on
a separate sda disk.

This is an SMP setup.

The system is a stock redhat 6.2 with updates applied.

Am I using the proper raid patch for this setup? I checked the RedHat
sources and they seem to use a -B2 patch, but I could not find it
elsewhere.

Are there issues with RAID and smp?
