Hi Everybody, I need some help in configuring Raid based mirroring on a HP Netserver LH4 (Intel based) system running Red Hat Linux 6.2 (Kernel ver. 2.2.14-5.0smp). This system has a 9 GB disc, on which the OS has been loaded. Also, there are 2 identical 36 GB discs, which have been configured using the Netserver Harware configuration tools to be part of the H/W raid array that comes builtin with the Netserver. I want these 2 discs toi be configured using RAID mirroring. I installed Linux on the system. Now when the system boots up, I cannot see either of the 36 GB discs. The raidtools utility (ver 0.90) was installed when I first booted the system after installation. I have installed the patch, but with some errors (while installing, I was getting the messages that the patch has already been installed, and I forced it to use the -R option, due to which dome hunks could not be applied and vmlinux-2.2.14-5.0smp.orig and vmlinux-2.2.14-5.0smp.rej files were generated under /boot). The /proc/mdstat file contains : Personalities : read_ahead not set unused devices: <none> I have all the md devices installed under /dev Also, the relevent part of the bootup messages are : ******************************************************************** md driver 0.90.0 MAX_MD_DEVS=256, MAX_REAL=12 raid5: measuring checksumming speed raid5: KNI detected, trying cache-avoiding KNI checksum routine pIII_kni : 989.457 MB/sec raid5: MMX detected, trying high-speed MMX checksum routines pII_mmx : 1198.626 MB/sec p5_mmx : 1269.111 MB/sec 8regs : 944.499 MB/sec 32regs : 517.779 MB/sec using fastest function: pIII_kni (989.457 MB/sec) scsi : 0 hosts. scsi : detected total. md.c: sizeof(mdp_super_t) = 4096 Partition check: RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0 autodetecting RAID arrays autorun ... ... autorun DONE. Is this a problem of too large a disk being used for RAID? Is a patch needed to take care of this problem? I am relatively new to Linux, though not to UNIX. Please help me in solving this problem. Also, if you have had similar experience of configuring Raid on Linux, please share your experience and any tips which will help me set this up. Thanks and have a great day!
