Yes - I used one for about a year to mirror the IDE system disk (linux root
partition). It does the mirroring (or striping) in hardware with no OS
support needed.
It worked fine for me until the day it went insane and declared both disks
(both parts of the mirror) invalid, and wouldn't let me do anything but zero
them out. :-( I chucked it in a box after that and swore never to use it
again.
