Kris,
It looks like you have exceeded the superblock size or maximum size
of your disk size. What block size did you select when you tried mke2fs?
I do not see any size limitations for mke2fs in the man. Perhaps one of the
higher ups could help. Also how much memory do you have in the system?
Maybe it can't allocate enough memory for caching the directory structure.
