Symbios LVD controllers are supported and have been for a long time. The
maintainer, Gerard Roudier does an excellent job and is directly supported
by Symbios with hardware and tech support.

Drivers are ncrBsd2Linux (ncr53c8xx) and newer sym53c8xx which is being
developed to support the dual channel versions of the LVD controllers. I use
the sym53c8xx driver with no problems.

I have used a SYM8951U (single channel) for almost a year now with no real
problems.
