Hi,

I have a PII-300 system running Redhat 5.2, kernel 2.0.36 with an
AHA-2940UW and a Fujitsu M2949E-512 HDD.

I have never been able to get more than 1.5 Mb/s data transfer from the
HDD, as measured by

hdparm -t /dev/sda

When I last tried it in Windows it did little better, but this was after
I had been playing around with the BIOS.

This suggest to me a hardware problem : but none of the computer support
staff here seem to know anything about SCSI. However, I have checked the
SCSI cable, and it seems fine - the HDD is the last device on the cable,
and it has an active terminator on the end.

I was hoping someone might be able to copy down there Adaptec BIOS
settings and send them to me : I really don't understand exactly what I am
doing with most of it, just to confirm that it isn't a setting that is
wrong.

TIA,

Matthew Davis.
