You might try the 53c7,8xx driver instead, since the 810 is said to be
obsolete. You might also want to try some newer 8xx like the 53c860/875
as found on Tekram DC-310/DC-390U/DC-390F or concurrent Symbios Logic
adaptors instead of your old 810. The ncr53c8xx driver has always been
fine for me, throughout all 2.0.35+ and ca. 2.1.100+ as well as every
2.2.x. Using Tekram DC-390U (SYM53C875).
