Hi!
I am having some strange problems with my HP SureStore DAT8 Scsi Tape
and I need some help.
I've got RH 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 installed in my machine. I'm using
BRU2000 for Backup and "mt" version 0.5 tool to make some tests.
My problem is this: my DAT seems to be working fine, I can do Backups
with BRU and restore them without any problem, but I can only read the
first backup in the tape.
I mean, I'm not able to access other backup in the tape different than
the first one.
This is what I have done:
First, I execute "mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind" to have the tape positioned at
the beginning.
After that, I do a backup with label "Backup1".
Then I execute "mt -f /dev/nst0 eod" to be sure that I have the tape at
the end.
Now, I do another backup, this time with label "Backup2".
After this I execute "mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind" again.
Now, I have two backups in the tape, now I'll try to read their headers:
I execute "bru -f /dev/nst0 -g" and I get the header of a backup labeled
"Backup1".
Now, I execute "mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf" to go to the next file in the tape.
Here I find something strange, the command returns inmediatly whithout
moving the tape. It seems like it does nothing.
Now I execute "bru -f /dev/nst0 -g" again and I get the same header
"Backup1".
I've had this DAT running in a RH5.0 machine and kernel 2.0.31, and
everything was working fine.
Can anybody help me?
TIA
