I know the docs for the aic7xxx driver state that Adpatec RAID cards
are not supported by Linux but I'll ask this anyway just to confirm.
Just got a Dell Poweredge server with one of their PERC RAID cards.
I already have a few of these but they're all just rebranded AMI
MegaRaid cards. This one however, is Adaptec based. It's got a pair
of AIC 7897N chips on it, another with "AAC-364/Dell 2" and has
"AAC-9000MD" on it in a couple of places. /proc/pci reports the
following for it:
RAID bus controller: DEC Unknown device (rev 1).
Vendor id=1011. Device id=46.
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 18. Master Capable.
Latency=32.
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xf9ffc000 [0xf9ffc000].
I/O at 0xe400 [0xe401].
Note "_DEC_ Unknown device. [ I didn't notice any DEC markings on the
card. ] This is using 2.2.8 with the latest aic patch applied (5.1.6
I think).
So I'm basically just looking for a definite "No, it hasn't a hope of
working with Linux" so I can go off and slap our Dell account manager.
Alternatively I've no problems doing driver testing on this box if
there is some chance that it might actually work.
