Tried ggain with the following command-line:
insmod aic7xxx aic7xxx='no_reset.verbose'
and recieved in 'dmesg' the following:

When the device is off, it works fine, so right you are about termination
being a problem.
I don't have a SCSI ID Conflict, CD Writer is definately 5 and scanner
definately 6.
