I want to awake an old Compaq ProSignia box with SCSI on board.
I havn't any documentation, but looking at the board I've found
two ships which have the following inscriptions:
1. Chip: NCR53C710
2. Chip: NCR-0390784
So I assume that it is a NCR53C7xx controler.
The kernel menuconfig online help says:
CONFIG_SCSI_SIM710:
This is a driver for the NCR53C710 chip commonly found in Compaq and
NCR machines.
In contrast to this I found the following in the Hardware-HOWTO:

Now I wonder if I had a chance with this box and what I have to do to get
it working.
Could you give me any hint?
I've read the steps to do when detecting such kind of bug in the
SCSI-HOWTO dated from 30 August 1996 and found under the "unsupported"
HOWTOs. Is this information valid yet and would it be my last chance?
