Thanks for all the help. Indeed, it was a long long div and mod function. Now that I got by that problem, I encountered another one which should be obvious. The "depmod" command found all the kernel function calls as unresolved symbol, like register_chrdev, panic.... and even including printk. I thought I must forgot to include some library routines. Strangely enough, I did the exact "hello" driver as specified in the O'Reilly Linux Device Driver Book, I got the same printk as unresolved symbol. Any clues? The "System.map" file in the /boot directory has all those kernel functions listed.
