I tried it with 2.3.51-kernel: same effect. Enabeling write-cache on
the MO does delay the problem but does not solve it.
There was a mail on May 18, on linux-scsi from Jeff Hill, reporting a
similar problem with an adaptec HA. So you are possibly right with
your first guess and the symbios-driver is innocent.
I'll send the kernel-messages not to the list, because of ist size. If
someon want's to see it, please feel free to contact me.
