Redhat come with this neat little app called "switchdesk' you can
call it from a xterm or from the run command in the main menu. If it
is not there it will be on either the install cd or the powertools,
but I am pretty sure it is installed by default. With switchdesk it
will give you a small list of desktops just select the one you want
click ok then logout and back in again and you will be running
whatever you selected.

Hi,
I use SuSE 7.1 Prof on a laptop and use a timeserver. In /etc/rc.config i
used Europe/Berlin as the timezone but now I am in California. What do I
have to write into that /etc/rc.config file instaed of Europe/Berlin?
I couldn't find a list - beside I think it is really stupid to do it by
name instaed of timezone - like CET.
How do I setup the correct timezone without /etc/rc.config?

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I'm running Linux on hda, and have hdb and hdg as FAT32 drives inherited
from my Win98 installation. When I try to mount them, I get a message
that says bad superblock, not a recognized file system or too many
mounted filesystems.
I thought maybe there was a problem with the damage Windows did to the
hds the last time it crashed, so I copied my vital data from hdb to hdg
and did an fdisk and reformat (had to use FAT32 because it's a 40mb
drive).
I still get the same error. And my fstab clearly says to read hdb as a
VFAT system (given that the manuals say that this is the proper setting
for a FAT32 system).
Any suggestions?

Try hdb1 instead of just hdb. You have to specify the partition on
the drive.

Here is what happened.
I had drive C with win NT 4 and a blank drive D. I went to load Win 2K on
drive D which it did but it placed the boot record on drive C which I can
say was not what I was expecting.

Greetings,
I have a system with a very high disk i/o but low cpu
utilization; we have not make any changes to the system
(adding users, software...). What could be the cause?
Because of the low cpu utilization, I eliminated the possibility
of application issues.
Any help will be appreciated.

Yep you should mount hdbX where X stands for the number of the partition.
Anyway - you need VFAT File System support included in your kernel. That is
standard in most distributions but you should check that - see kernel
compile :-)

The opl3sa2 driver is hosed up in Redhat 7.1.
You need the source from a newer kernel. I'm not sure when it got
fixed, but the last changelog entry in the one that works for me says:
* Scott Murray Some small cleanups to the init code output.
* (Jan 7, 2001)
If you like, I will mail the updated opl3sa2.c to you.
