I had try something similar with your suggestion (the only difference is i copyed _all_ CD-1 and CD-2 to directory named "linux1" and "linux2"). BTW, what do you mean "Start the installation with the floppy". Did you mean, use "boot.img" disk ? I have try it, but when the installation asked the location, I try to point it to "dev/hda1" , "/dev/hda1/linux1" but it allways refuses.
