Hi,
I'm the administrator of a Digital server (2xPII 266/128M/2x4G SCSI, 3
nics).
It used to run Linux/Interbase for about one year. It did some DNS and
routing too.
It started with RedHat 5.0 and it has been upgraded to 5.1 and then, step by
step to kernel 2.2.0.
It used to work with RH5.1(some packages upgraded to 5.2) and kernel
2.2.0pre5.
It used to work well.
then
I wanted to clean the RedHat5.1 and install 5.2 but with kernel 2.2.0-final
(including the required upgrades) because I couldn't keep track of what
version every package was. I sacrificed my weekend for that.
It shouldn't have been difficult as only the kernel 2.2.0 required software
was (imho) other than one or another RedHat distribution.
I installed it.
All worked well except routing.
All routes were ok on the workstations and on the server.
Yet nothing got routed.
Not even ping packets.
I reinstalled RH5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 but to no avail.
No routing at all.
I restored the old RH5.1 from backups and it works.
So I wonder, what went wrong ?
Please, send any suggestion.
I hate not being able to understand what's going wrong.
Claudiu
