I had the same prblem, so I suggest three steps:
1. Make sure you have 2 processor of the same type (e.j. PII 200 MHZ, cache 512 etc),
generally
in the proccessor are a big number that tell you this (e.j. L322567A1).
This is because some mainboards do not accept diferent type processors; I mean PII but
diferent
size cache..(It maybe be your problem).
2. Make sure you install the new kernel. Check that this is SMP active.
3. Check that in your BIOS both processors are active. In my case there was the
problem.
Finally check that the 2 proccesor have diferent Id�s, this could be seen somewhere in
the Bios.
