I have a Hauppage new tv tuner. I know th ecard works in Linux, for I
have gotten it to work on my pII system. However, since the pII is just a
tinkering box, and I rarely boot it, I decided to move it to my dual
pentium box where it is now. I am using th eexact insmod commands on
kernel 2.2.1 ac2:
insmod i2c
insmod tuner type=2 debug=0
insmod videodev
insmod bttv
in that order. The kernel see the card just fine, from what I can tell:
i2c: initialized
Linux video capture interface: v1.00
bttv0: Brooktree Bt878 (rev 2) bus: 0, devfn: 88, irq: 10, memory:
0xe1005000.
bttv: 1 Bt8xx card(s) found.
bttv0: model: BT878(Hauppauge new)
bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok
bttv0: PLL: switching off
bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok
bttv0: PLL: switching off
However, when I run any application (like xawtv), it does not show the
picture at all. It is just black. And th eoutput is rather strange (also
causing strange redraws to occur):
Earthquake:~> xawtv -b 32
This is xawtv-2.35, running on Linux/i586 (2.2.1-ac1)
x11: 1280x1024, 32 bit/pixel, 0 byte/scanline
v4l: device is BT878(Hauppauge new)
v4l: 1280x1024, 32 bit/pixel, 5120 byte/scanline
v4l: oops: got sigalarm
ioctl VIDIOCSYNC: Interrupted system call
ioctl VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,rgb24,64x48): Device or resource busy
ioctl VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,grey,64x48): Device or resource busy
grab: no match for: 384x288 32 bit TrueColor (bytes: bgr-)
ioctl VIDIOCCAPTURE: Invalid argument
My setup is:
Dual p166
96M of RAM
aic7xxx SCSI w/UW SCSI disks
Matrox Mystique 220
Hauppage 401 (or 400)
3COM 905B
the mother board is AT style, so I don't think the power problems w/the
3com and ATX could be a factor. I tried to take the card out and move it
to another slot. It produced the above error. What I do find strange is
that there was only one ioctl() error before I moved it to the new PCI
slot. If anyone has any ideas, I would be much appreciative.
