  Hi!

  I'm currently running a dual 333MHz Siemens Nixdorf Primergy 460 with a
Mylex DAC960PD hardware RAID controller. I added the beta (!) driver for
the Mylex and rebuilt the kernel (2.0.35) - everything is working fine
  so far...

Are there any known issues with the 2.1.x kernels and this kind of
hardware RAID configuration? I would like to switch to 2.1.x to make
better use of this SMP machine, but would hate to trade in for problems
with RAID. (Yeah, I know 2.1.x is dev, not to be considered stable.)

I am not aware of any problems with the 2.1.0 beta version of the driver.
However, I don't think there are too many people running it on 2.1.x at this
time since hardware RAID is often associated with stability and mission
critical applications.

Furthermore: does anyone know if there are plans to integrate the Mylex
driver into the kernel (as opposed to me patching the kernel for every
revision)? I sure hope so - these kinds of drivers would make it a lot
easier to build corporate servers on linux. My boss wouldn't be happy to
know that I'm using a beta driver instead of the standard (kernel)
  distribution... ;-)

I'm curious why you are asking on a public mailing list that's not directly
related, rather than asking the author of the driver?

To answer your question, I do plan to integrate the DAC960 driver into the
standard kernels in the not too distant future.

                Leonard
