Thanks to all who replied regarding the two tests (firstly ordinary keys
typed or held down, secondly ENTER typed or held down in a tcsh while
all CPU's running hogs).

Parsing all responses, the outcome was:

2.0 has neither problem
2.1 (vanilla) has the ENTER problem in all cases and the ordinary typing
problem in most cases.

2.1+Rik's scheduler patch has neither problem. I understand why the
ordinary typing problem goes away (goodness=1 for hogs) but not the tcsh
ENTER problem (since the ioctl() ends up setting current->counter to 0
in some cases). Oh well.

Anyway, by now everyone on the list should have received my patch which
solves both problems for 2.1. Rik's patch has lots of extra features
though, and with a bit of persistence I'm sure he'll get some of them
past Linus ;-)
