I also have a Tyan S1662 with dual PPro/166's and an Adaptec 2940UW. It's had various
amounts of RAM. Currently it
has 256MB 60ns EDO (eight 32MB SIMMs.) I've run it with various disk configurations
under 2.1, and 2.2 kernels.
I've experienced no problems with this setup. I've also experienced no problems on
the same system with a Buslogic
Flashpoint BT-950 controller.
