I just got off the phone with a vendor of Video Editing equipment. He
offered me a Mac or NT configuration. I asked him if LINUX was available. I
suggested that if it was I should save almost $1000 over the same
configuration with NT and that I might want to sell their hardware. Five
systems LINUX systems would make me almost $5000 more profit than the same
number of NT systems. It would also make it 5% or 10% cheaper and reduce
the sales effort by the same amount on any LINUX system they sold. I didn't
mention that it would also probably ensure my getting the service contract
and make an MSCE worthless.
Don't just push technical superiority. It angers people that are
emotionally involved with something else. But if they want to make more
money the numbers don't lie.
