Thank-you for all those who submitted their timings to me. I will compile these results shortly. It became apparent that the optimization switch used on GCC affects the results and that various people reported a need for a longer timing loop to increase accuracy. I subsequently wrote another test program that I am eager to get results for as well and will submit both pi.c (updated) and add.c (add 2 1024x1024 arrays together) for new testing.
