I did the same thing a few months back. I just ran the installer again in
update mode. It didn't find anything to update, of course, but if I recall
correctly, it let me reinstall lilo.
To boot into 98, you add an entry/label in lilo for your 98 partition. I
believe that the installer will do this too.
