We have a VA Research VArServer S3500 qaud Xeon server with 2GB RAM and 18GB
disks for all sort of functional and performance testing. The system comes
with RH 5.2 distribution, 2.0.36 and 2.2.7 SMP kernels (we tested both).
It is extremely stable (No user program can crash it yet) with good SMP
performance. It is Intel SC450NX OEM platform (MB+enclosure). You can not
buy this MB only (you don't want to either, since it will not fit to any
standard PC case.). The price is very reasonable. You may find it from
other vendors such as SWT (check www.varesearch.com and www.swt.com).
