Greetings,
I just upgraded to a dual-Celeron board, and everything seems to work
great except that while running in SMP mode, the modem result codes come
through sporadically at best. Using minicom, I can send commands to the
modem (off hook, on hook, dial, etc.), and it does as it's told, however
the result codes either don't come back at all, or I get at most the
first letter ('O' of "OK", 'E' of "ERROR"). This is preventing pppd
from working, which is a serious problem for me. The same kernel
compiled for UP works just fine. My system is:
Abit BP6 w/ 2xCeleron 366, 256 MB
USR internal 56k (ISA)
Linux 2.2.11 (SMP), 2.2.10 (UP)
(2.2.10 SMP exhibits the same symptoms)
I do get a device conflict detected by the BIOS on bootup (has to do
with COM2, which is where the modem is), but I ignore it and, again,
there is no problem in Linux UP (or NT for that matter), only SMP.
Anyone have any clues?
Thanks,
James
