Hello SMP people.

I have 3 Dual PPro servers running RedHat.
Currently they are on individual APC Smart/Back UPS.

I am looking into getting a solution with longer uptime during power
failure as well as better management/monitoring.

The UPS selector page on APC's web site suggests a Smart-UPS XL + 1
Battery Pack (SU2200XLNET + SU48XLBP). This is a 1600 Watt unit that
should give over 60 minutes of uptime.

They also have a SmartSlot Interface Expander to control up to 3 PC/Server
via RS-232 or alternately an APC Web/SNMP Management Card (10 Base T).

What kind of configuration do you all recommend.

I don't need hours and hours of battery uptime, but would like to have the
management/monitoring set up such that the UPS notifies the servers when
they should be shutdown (based on battery time left?).

I also monitor quite a bit of my equipment with Big Brother and MRTG. It
would be nice to be able to show battery status as well.

How about Best Ups systems? Any others?
I have all APC right now and have been happy with the reliability and
cost.

Thanks,
