Use the pre17 driver.  I am, and it works.

Be sure to select the hpt-366, and set AUTODMA, if you want to
do DMA.  hdparm -d1 will not work, and you may end up having
to fsck your drive if you try.  Also, you may see occasional
DMA problems, and will be switched to PIO mode; in that case,
you can try hdparm -k to try to restart DMA after a reset,
else you will suffer drastically lower performance.  Be sure
to get the latest hdparm.
