The
script Dr Alan Watson provided really stressed my dual Pentium Pro
machine. Nothing would function until the script completed. I had
gtop running and that was suspended while the script was
running.
Well, I've been all over linux.org, calderasystems.com, redhat.com,
linux.com and probably 20 other sites. I made the mistake of buying a
Logitech QuickCam Pro USB camera thinking it would easily integrate into my RH
6.0 system. Was I wrong! I've been to sites that have code for
parallel versions but dependent libraries couldn't be found on the
web. Fortunately a project has surfaced that will let me
"sacrafice" my camera for corporate purposes (and allow me to acquire
one that will integrate with Linux). Can someone let me know the
names of cameras I can attach to my Compaq Deskpro's USB port and install with
RPM or other Linux tool?
Also, is anyone aware of drivers available for my STB TVPCI card?
In trying to migrate away from Windows my TV card is something I'm really going
to miss. I think Happague's TV card has Linux drivers available but I
wanted to avoid having to buy new hardware. STB has the TVPCI card in it's
"legacy" products so I know nothing will come from
them.
Lastly, someone please recommend some good reading materials on
Linux. I've seen Linux Unleashed and others but haven't purchased
yet. I'd rather solicit preferences here than add to my library something
that is less than first class.
