I use IPCHAINS.....there's alot of info about it out there...just look
around.....
Its not too bad, but the only problem I experience is "bonking" of my ethernet
card when I play games online.  I think it has to do with an error I receive from
some servers regarding a failed reverse ICMP lookup..........
Other than that its nice!

Of course, I run redhat, which uses the 2.2.12 kernel......
