I have an dual Pentium Pro machine that I've had for a few years now,
and I'm pretty familiar with the boot process. There's a bit of
information about the APIC and other SMP hardware that shows how
everything is going to work.
I just put together a dual Pentium whose logged kernel output looks a
bit different--it actually looks truncated:
Jan 9 20:20:44 krypton syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
Jan 9 20:20:45 krypton kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Jan 9 20:20:45 krypton kernel: Inspecting /boot/System.map
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: Loaded 7000 symbols from /boot/System.map.
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.2.13.
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: Loaded 3 symbols from 2 modules.
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: 601MB w/120kB Cache, CHS=1223/16/63
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: hdb: WDC AC22100H, 2014MB w/128kB Cache, CHS=409
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: hdc: ATAPI 8X CD-ROM drive, 256kB Cache
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: Uniform CDROM driver Revision: 2.56
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: hdd: ATAPI 6X CD-ROM changer w/4 slots, 128kB Ca
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: FDC 0 is a post-1991 82077
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: scsi : 0 hosts.
Jan 9 20:20:46 krypton kernel: scsi : detected total.
After it says "Loaded 3 symbols from 2 modules.", it looks as if there's a
bunch missing up until the "601 MB" which is my hda. All that stuff
about the SMP hardware, the buggy CMD640 interface, etc. is missing.
I took a closer look on the screen as it flies by, and it's there, but
not in the log as above. Anyone know why?
This is a Micronics M54Pe with dual P133s.
