Greetings all,
(especially "Herbert Wengatz 42850 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" who's
email address seems to have changed)
The input to the discussion on the SMP list made my decission much clearer,
thanks for that, it cut through the excitement of getting a new toy to the real
questions. I would appreciate any opinion on the following hardware setup. I
have pushed my budget as far as I can, I would like SCSI drives but cannot
afford them at this time. The price is in Oz dollars which will probably mean
nothing to you, (It works out at 4870.48 DEM on current rates) it is a very
competitive price from a well established local computer builder. The SCSI card
for the CDRW will be an adaptec 2906 which I already have. If I went for SCSI
HDs I think I would need a better card. Do you think I would be better going
with a 20GB Quantum KX, 7200rpm for an extra $120 ? The Linux/USB web site says
the Logitech USB mouse is supported. The extra network card is to put in my old
pentium 166 which I will use as an X-terminal.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
