RW CD ROM?

I'm interested in building a dual celeron with a sony cd-rw 8x4x32. Will
it work? I've looked around a bit, and I can't tell how extensively
linux supports rw cd rom drives. We have a box at work that won't pick
up its dvd player, so I'm a little worried.
