Hi !
I don't know if it is the correct place to that but I hope somebody can
answer some of the questions I have. I need to use 2.3.51 doubt to USB
and Firewire support so I had compiled it by my self. I have RedHat 6.1
in
a biprocessor box. But I have some questions:
- What kind of things I have to upgrade ? I had installed modutils
2.3.10, Is anything more neccesary ?
- What about shared memory shm ? Which is the importance of this device
? I got errors with it (shmget: shm filesystem not mounted) until I
mount it in
/var/shm. I still don't know what is it.
- I have errors with Netscape. I can't send neither e-mails nor post
messages (I'm writing in a windoze machine :( ) because netscape can't
create a
temporary file) . Any idea ? I was using it without problems prior to
the new kernel.
- I can not load parport_pc module, there are problems with this ? If I
compile the kernel with parport and parport_pc inside the kernel I get
errors, is this strange ? "unresolved symbol parport_pc_init_pci
- I get some errors in the init process of RedHat 6.1:
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_always_defrag Is not there anymore. Is this
important ?
- And last, what is the best way to load modules automatically on boot.
I'd like to get usbcore, usb-uhci and videodev loaded from the first
moment.
