Hallo Linux guru,
I've got your address from [EMAIL PROTECTED] where he pointed out that
you are a person which my be able to help myself out of the shit.
I've tried to install Redhat 6.2 Linux smp on a Revolution Q4SMP (made by
ALR - www.alr.com) board, which failed when booting in SMP mode.
(details of the crashed screen attached).
The system spec's are:
Q4SMP motherboard,
2 processor boards (each 100MHz Intel Pentium)
1 memory board (256 MB)
1 3C579 NIC
1 DPT EISA - SCSI Controller - with 2 x IBM DNES 309170
1 AHA 1510 Controller - with 1 CD-ROM
1 Cirrus CL 5424 Adapter
Linux kernel version 2.2.12-32 or 2.2.12-32smp
I could install the system, even the SMP kernel has been installed and is
shown in LILO.
When I boot the system in single processor mode (Redhat LILO entrance:
Linux-up) everything runs. X, Gnome .....
When I try to boot the SMP kernel (the original made by Redhat with APM
enabled !?!) and also with my own build (APM disabled) the same early error
screen comes up. The BIOS has an entry (MP spec or Banyan) - when I set this
mode to Banyan I can boot the SMP Kernel - but only one processor is used
(/proc/cpuinfo).
Do you have any ideas. The crashed screen I have manually copied (no other
way) .
Hope to have a response.
