My earlier comments are to this effect:
- Celerons, 1 or 2, do not "support" SMP. Period.
- Abit (and others) have released motherboards that circumvent
the Celerons "inability" to do SMP. The motherboard does all
the work of making SMP function in the case of the celeron.
Whether or not a Celeron will work in SMP configurations depend
on the Abit board, in this case, the BP6. And whether or not a
Celeron 533 will work will depend on the BIOS of the BP6. Overclocking
it would also depend on the CPU and the ability of the board to
supply power/FSB. This would also depend on the BIOS.
I recommend checking some of the overclocking sites, since
the BP6 is a super-favorite of most overclockers. They would have
the full info on what clock speeds are currently support in
the BP6.
Also understand that Linux-SMP does not support chips with different
clock speeds. So if you get a 533, you need to get TWO 533s.
You will have to find something else for the 500 to do.
