Hi all,

Problem: wrong detection of delay loop (Bogomips) in the 2.2.16-3 kernel

*****

look at this snippet:

...
Jun 26 10:57:05 montecristo kernel: Detected 451032 kHz processor.
Jun 26 10:57:05 montecristo kernel: Console: colour VGA+ 80x25
Jun 26 10:57:05 montecristo kernel: Calibrating delay loop... 897.84
BogoMIPS
...

on my Dual Pentium III @ 450MHz *Asus P2B-D running 2.2.16-3 kernel
(smp)
compiled for the i686/PIII instruction set

*****

The delay detection is wrong, in fact running 2.2.14-12smp kernel I
correctly get:
(this is the standard RH6.2 kernel, probably compiled for the i386
instruction set)

Have anybody an idea on how to fix the problem ?

Thanks in advance
