Hi Richard!

I don't have any information about a specific program used for this task,
but there is a program called kvoicecontrol (not kvoice!!) f�r the
KDE-Desktop which listens to the sound-port and executes tasks when commands
are received over the microphone, maybe you can dig out of this program
which statements are used to start recording when something important comes
in over the soundcard...

On the side of the software box, in the >>System Requirements<< 
section, it said >>Requires Windows 95 or better<<. 

So I installed Linux.
