Hi.

Many of the sound cards that support full duplex operation will only give
you mono-playback while in duplex mode.

This is done to make the hardware cheaper in most cases.  They provide you
with the ability to record *and* playback at the same time, but you only
get to hear mono playback.  (Everything is actually on the harddisk in
stereo, but you can't listen to it that way while recording... requires
too much activity in the soundcard.)
