We develop a large Streams program (SNAP-IX, www.snapix.com). We have found that after installing LiS (we are currently using 2.13.20 on Redhat 7.2 or 7.3) using the default options and installing and starting our product that we have trouble getting kernel memory with kmalloc. For example we try to get 200 x 20k memory blocks and only get about half of them. If we reboot after the installation of LiS we never see the problem with kmalloc. We see this on some of our test systems not all of them. We are using the GFP_KERNEL option on our kmalloc calls.
Is there something done during the LiS installation that requires a reboot in order to reset the kernel memory manager? _______________________________________________________ Richard Hilditch SNAP-IX Group Data Connection Ltd.
