Hi!
I would advise rebuild sunxi-tools. I had problems with "usb_bulk_send() 
ERROR -7: Operation timed out" while trying to use sunxi-tools from binary.
Rebuilding (mostly relinking with actual libusb, I suppose) solved the 
problem in my case.
