If it's an optical connection you have then you should see the RED light if
the data connection to the connector is working. I fixed an issue a while
ago where the gpio's weren't being set up correctly for spdif, on my Mele
A2000 it works. Have you modified the fex for your device?

Cool....if you can upload config and the console output to pastebin etc
then I can take a look. More people requesting audio support will be a
driving force in me getting these patches out in the open.
