I think that svgalib apps cannot be run under XFree. X11R6 does not allow direct
access to the graphics array, and then the dga extensions don't give vertical
synchronizations, last-I-checked.
We are working on making svgalib apps execute as user processes. One idea is a new
/dev/svga device. Another for which I am trying to find the time is to have a new
Linux system call by which a super-user process can ask for a mmap on behalf of an
user process.
