Hi!

I'm porting a red alert/command and conquer - like game to Linux, using
svgalib.
The game needs a resolution of 640*480 in 256 colors.

I've got a laptop with an ATI Rage Mobility.
I didn't manage to make this card work at resolutions of 640*480 and higher
with the rage driver. There is a display, but it is cut, outside the screen
and there's a hole in the middle.........

The VESA driver didn't work at all. An error message told to recompile
svgalib with a higher option in drivers.h, but it didn't work.

I've recompiled my kernel with support for frame buffer device and
everything's good now. Game is running at 250 frames/s (on windows on the
same computer, it was running at 330 frames/s).

Now, I've got to write a document in order to help people installing and
playing the game, and I've got a question.
If everything's working, that's if you have the choice between using the
provided chipset drive, or the vesa driver, or the frame buffer driver,
what's the faster option?

Answer me quick, please... My work has to be finished this week.

Xavier
