I'd love to help. I got the exact same system partially working a short
time ago, except I cannot read data from the tapes. I can only write to
them... Strange...
Anyway, you give no indication as to what your difficulties are. Perhaps
you could BRIEFLY describe where things are failing for you. Here are some
basics:
In the latest Fape directory there should be a subdirectory called
modules. In there you should find a file called "insert". This is the file
that loads the driver modules into the kernel so your system knows how to
access the drive (Yes, the modules are required no matter what you use to
run a backup.). Read that file and tweak it to your liking (I can show you
mine if you want to look at it). Once the modules are loaded do a:
mt -f /dev/qft0 status
And you "should" see your drive status pop up. If not, check
the end of /var/log/messages for any pertinant error messages.
