This is what my experince has been with bpck-fdc.o.

First trying to tell bpck-fdc the address and irq is pointless
and it will not use them even if you give it them.
Instead bpck-fdc.o seems to use the address and irq given
to parport_pc. This is what my conf.modules looks like
with respect to the tape drive and parellel port:

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7 dma=3
alias char-major-27       zftape
options ftape ft_fdc_driver=bpck-fdc,none,none,none ft_tracings=3,3,3,3
options bpck-fdc ft_fdc_parport=0 ft_fdc_threshold=15
ft_fdc_rate_limit=4000
pre-install ftape-internal /sbin/swapout 15

This is what I am useing for my ditto max, even though I seem to
have got the the parellel port to work I still have problems.
That being, I seem to be able to backup to tape with no problem.
But when I go to do a verify it gets slower and slower, then
about an hour into it, it gives me an "I/O error while reading from
tape".
This I have yet to figure out, if any one has any clues, please
let me know.
