AFAIK, the actual tape has no concept of block sizes, only 32K
segments (minus a bit for ECC, which makes it 29K). However,
listtape.pl on a tape saved in IDT says that the block size is 1K.

I've managed to retrieve the data using a block size of 10K in ftape.
However, note that if you are retrieving the data for an archive
which does not start at the beginning of the tape, it may be
incorrect (junk at the beginning, end missing), and if retrieving the
data from the beginning of the tape, the last (up to) 29K may be
missing (see my original message with this subject). If this is the
case, then you will have to retrieve the individual segments manually
using /dev/rawqt0.

Also, are you aware that the data is in a specific
format (and may be compressed)?

Robie.
