I would personally upgrade to the 4.x series, but, then again, don't fix
what ain't broke!  The fact that the ECC caught and correct the CRC
errors says that you have a good backup.

One note -- you will get better results out of the Ditto drive if you
install a DASH accellerator card instead of trying to use your onboard
floppy controller.
