I don't think this is solved. I still have this problem. I am working with Ubuntu 10.04, Openshot 1.4.0~beta1 on a duo cpu T9600 @ 2.8GHz and 4 Gig of RAM.

Up to 10 seconds just to change the position in the timeline (programme gets grayed out in this time). CPU: 100%, RAM: 33% - so RAM is not the problem. The CPU is a Dual Core 2GHz (Intel core 2 duo CPU T5870 @ 2GHz). Is that too slow??? I wonder because everything is fine with only a few files.
